In an old wooden box at the top of the stair
Lives a raggedy doll and a teddy bear
By day they lay still like good toys do
But at night they put on their dancing shoes
Chorus
And they go dancing, all around the neighbourhood
They go dancing, through the park and to the woods
In the night all is still, just the hoot of an owl
Till the doll gives a squeak, and teddy a growl
Then their friends all wake up and come running to see
How they dance in the moonlight beneath the trees
Chorus
When the song bird sings at the break of dawn
It’s time to go home as they run hand in paw
And climbing the stairs in the toy box they lay
To be good as they should for another day
And they go dancing, all around the neighbourhood
They go dancing, through the park and to the woods
