They met in a gallery, drawn by Matisse
She gazed at the paintings, he studied her face
She still had her doubts when they walked in the park
But holding her hand somehow kindled a spark
She said I'm still married some day I'll divorce
He said I'm available, single of course
And so it began as all good things begin
He made her his princess she made him her king
And oh how the world keeps on turning round and round
They met now and then, they had tea, love and cake
This cold sleeping beauty he kissed wide awake
The good times were good and the bad times were few
They kept a low profile and nobody knew
But girls will be women and men will be boys
She wanted a future he played with his toys
She said for a while maybe we'll be just friends
Beginnings are easy it's harder to end
And oh how the world keeps on turning round and round
And so they moved on to begin and renew
She untied the knot and she found someone new
He carried on studying faces he met
Though his little princess was hard to forget
A handful of ashes thrown to the wind
An old life is over another begins
A new life is born with a slap and a cry
Beginnings and endings hello and goodbye
And oh how the world keeps on turning round and round
And oh how the world keeps on turning round and round
A handful of ashes thrown to the wind
An old life is over another begins
A new life is born with a slap and a cry
Beginnings and endings hello and goodbye
And oh how the world keeps on turning round and round
And oh how the world keeps on turning round and round
